Portrait of Hanne Weaver, Aspiring 2020 Olympic Sailor

Hanne Weaver developed her lifelong passion for sailing at a early age. As a Gig Harbor native, she began racing competitively at just eight years old. Hanne started her career racing in local regattas and clinics in Washington. After years of training and dedication, she began competing in larger regattas and gaining recognition in the sailing community. This includes being awarded the Marymont Trophy for ‘Sailor of the Year’ from the Seattle Yacht Club.

Hanne is now training for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, fully committing her time and effort to representing the United States as a part of the US Sailing Team. Her race to the Olympics will not be easy, from training five-days a week in the gym to being on the water as often as she can. For Hanne, the reward makes it all worth it. Sailing is more than just hobby—it’s her career, passion and life’s calling.
