I am here down in Clearwater, Florida. Sailing Mid winters East Regatta. Early registration starts tomorrow. The regatta begins on Thursday and ends Sunday. Wind today was light and variable. It went right a lot today and playing the shifts and carving down winds helps keep the boat moving fast. I also saw some more Dolphins today. Day 1 Moderate winds from the NW. The waves were about 1-2 feet tall. I started the day off pretty good. Had a decent start and then went left. This was the way to go for the whole day. I got stuck in bad air which pushed me back. My downwind sailing was good though and caught a few boats. But couldn’t make them back for that race. The next race had three general recalls. It has been a tough regatta. Started out with a black flag. That wasn’t such a good thing and didn’t help when I didn’t make gold fleet. Has only one race on the first two days, then three on the next and that was when we split into gold and silver. I was in 53rd and only 41 boats make it into gold. Tomorrow is the first day of racing. I can’t wait to get back out on the water and race against world class sailors. I have been working out, eating right and ready for anything.
